Good architecture begins with the place.

Housing, cabins, commercial buildings and transformation – starting from the landscape and what is already there.

Selected work

From townhouse to archipelago

Four projects at different scales – from six urban homes and seven villas to a cabin in the pines and a new neighbourhood.

Six homes. A new part of the neighbourhood.

On a corner site in the historic Holmen district of Fredrikstad, a dilapidated timber house has been replaced by six apartments for first-time buyers. Shaped with neighbours, the municipality and the city conservator, the building follows the street and its neighbours.

«The project stands as an important model for innovation within established and culturally historic settings.»

Our approach

Build less, build smarter

A precise plan lets a few square metres feel generous. Durable materials age with dignity. And when the building adapts to the terrain rather than the other way round, the landscape becomes part of the architecture.

The studio

A small studio with an eye for the whole

Line Solgaard founded the studio in 2012. Today a team of architects working from Oslo and Fredrikstad takes on projects from replacement cabins in the archipelago to new neighbourhoods – from the first analysis to the finished building.

«Our ambition is that what we design takes a long-term view, is robust and ages with dignity.»
